Throughout 2018 and 2019, we conducted surveys on the population and occupancy of hornbills in the Kapuas Hulu landscape. From 13 observation points covering an area of 56,214 ha, we also gained a lot of new insights and views about the perceptions of local people and the condition of hornbills in the surrounding area.
From the results of observations, surveys and analysis, we realize that there is no book that specifically reviews information about hornbills. Specifically related to the eight types of hornbills in Kalimantan.
The Borneo hornbill book - A Practical Guide to Field Identification was created as a medium to introduce hornbill species in Kalimantan, especially to local people who are unable to recognize and distinguish the eight species of hornbill in Kalimantan.
This book provides information on species naming accompanied by local names, morphology and distribution maps. Description of the type is also equipped with a symbol of conservation status.
Of course this book can be used by various groups, including local communities, academics, conservation activists, students and also the government*. By having the book Bornean hornbill - A Practical Guide to Field Identification, we can more easily and practically identify hornbills in nature.
